Sunny grew up in the small yet densely populated port town, Pierats. Unfortunately named due to the town's elected official demanding it be renamed after himself many years ago. The once vibrant and busy town was once filled with people. Whether it was trade ships coming with materials, or tourists visiting the land. Within time it became a town of struggle and hardship. All because no nations or other places wanted to engage in trade with a port town with a name like that. What remains of this town Sunny spent most of her childhood in, is a quiet sort of village within a town on the coast with a far smaller population than before. These days the locals still living there rely on materials and food taken from the tropical rainforests that cover the entire island aside from the town.
When Sunny was a child, she would often learn and read about the naval military unit that operated in another land nearby Pierat. On some days she would even be fortunate enough to see some of their ships in operation as they would pass by close enough to be seen. They were huge, and imposing vessels that frightened many of those around her, but she took a great interest in them. Especially knowing all that she knew of their glorious victories in battle as her books described. From then on she would always tell herself that when she grew up she wanted to be part of the naval infantry, and to work her way up to becoming a top admiral and command a ship of her own.
To Sunny, by the time she was a teenager, there were mostly two worlds. The dense green jungle to one side, and to the other, the vast blue ocean. She just so happened to live between them both, and after having one too many poor experiences within the jungle herself, Sunny took to the ocean much more. She could remember when she was younger, there still occasionally being a ship or two that would come and go from the island. But these days, the only thing you would really see leave would be fishing boats from those that live on the island setting out to find their food for the day. Eventually, Sunny decided she wanted to try going out on her own in one of the boats. So under the cover of night, she would leave her home, and take one of the many boats attached to the docks.
She would row for quite some time, eager to see something that wasn't the only land she had ever known. She had heard all kinds of great and interesting things about the world outside her home. Still holding on to the dream she had carried of becoming an admiral. But eventually, she began to grow exhausted and tired, given the late hour especially after all the rowing. She would lay back in the small boat and look up at the stars. The sight was beautiful, but her eyelids grew simply too heavy as she fell asleep. The next thing she would know, she would awaken, tied to a large wooden post on a much larger ship.
Surrounding Sunny was a group of pirates. The leader, Captain Emah Rald, otherwise known as "Never Old Emerald". An eyepatch wearing woman who has terrorized trade ships for decades despite not looking to be older than 30. As well as her crew, consisting of her two most faithful bodyguards Cyan and Indigo, and her deck hands Vermillion, Scarlet, and Fuchsia. Her crew was almost as feared as the Captain herself. As each of them notably have strength far greater than what anyone would expect by looking at them. Emerald however, was feared most of all, for it was rare that she made an appearance, allowing her crew to do most of the heavy lifting. It was said that anyone who was unfortunate enough to cross paths with Emerald were destined to have a life of misery in front of them. This was all information Sunny was very well aware of due to her studies at home. The nearby navy kept as extensive of public records as they could on this group. Though most people never cared to read through all of it, Sunny however was not one of those people.
Emerald stood right in front of Sunny, and the two began to stare at one another. She would think to herself for a moment, before stating plainly. "You have a choice. Either your journey ends here, or your new life begins now." Sunny could either perish at the hands of those before her, or she could continue to exist, but at the service of this captain and crew. At that moment, within Sunny's mind she couldn't believe the situation she found herself in. She wanted to actively do everything she could to take these pirates down and now her only way to stay alive was to join them. Reluctantly, she would accept, seeing no other options. Emerald nodded and told her that she made the right choice. But to fully join her crew, there was one more thing she had to do. Emerald placed her hand upon Sunny's forehead and in an excruciating process, Sunny could feel her entire body become engulfed with intense pain. While nothing seemed to actually change on the outside, Sunny felt as if her muscles were being tensed significantly, and she found it very painful to even move.
The captain would go on to explain as Sunny fell to the ground in pain. "Your muscles are now being put under constant stress. You will become numb to the pain, and it will break you down into the perfect addition to my crew. Your strength will increase dramatically, and you will help me and this crew in discovering the one treasure I have spent decades searching for. The Golden Bee." She would continue her explanation, telling Sunny that this particular golden artifact is rumoured to bestow upon the person holding it all the knowledge in existence. Allowing the one in possession of it infinite comprehension beyond reality. Emerald would claim she knows this to be the truth because a vision came to her as she was looking up at the stars one day, and it told her to find the Golden Bee.
Over the next several weeks, Sunny would live in near constant pain despite now having greater strength than she ever thought was possible. She could run faster, jump higher, lift just about anything around. But doing so pained her greatly, as her body was far from able to withstand all the stress without being in severe pain. Each day she would think of ways to escape this ship. But as the days went by, she found herself unable to think of anything as all she could think about the agony of her current condition. Eventually, she stopped thinking of how to escape all together. After enough mental conditioning, Sunny became an unstoppable force on the high seas. Within time, completely determined more than anything to fulfil her duty and help her captain find this treasure.
Years would pass, and a day would come that Sunny no longer felt the pain. She no longer could feel much of anything. She would become infamous to all who knew of her. Known only as Citrine The Cannon. With the defining feature that she was seen everywhere holding a full sized cannon with just her two arms. Even loading and firing it proves to be no issue for her. Because of this level of lethality, Captain Emerald was quite pleased with what she called her greatest creation. Over the years Sunny not only proved to be an effective enforcer, but even better at running the ship itself. One day though, Sunny entered the Captains Quarters to find it empty, with a note left on a nearby desk. Written in some kind of red ink, Sunny could barely make out the words scrawled onto the paper "Saw it again. I know I did. It's the truth." Sunny would never see the captain again. Within just a couple days after reading that note, the entire crew would begin to feel normal senses start to return to them. Beginning to feel more like themselves before the influence of their captain, yet their bodies seemed to maintain the same strength they had previously.
From that day forward, Sunny would take over operations of the ship. The rest of the crew decided to part ways after the apparent loss of the captain. Despite Sunny's initial dreams of being in the navy, she now only truly knew a life of being on the high seas. But being left without any direction from her leader, Sunny felt purposeless, not knowing the first thing about where to find the mysterious Golden Bee. Eventually she would spot a naval ship not far from her, and she would head straight for it. Where after enough time she would be noticed, and her ship, promptly boarded. Numerous officers would get on the ship, with the lead one walking right up to Sunny. It was a woman who looked like she had seen a fair amount of battles in her time.
She introduced herself as Admiral Marina. To her side was a young man holding a rather large lance. Marina then looked at Sunny and asked. "You're alone?" to which Sunny nodded and gave herself up, knowing all the terrible things she had done under the influence of Emerald. Marina laughed at this and told her that she had a way out. She explained that normally she would simply throw someone like Sunny in jail for all the parts she played in the various crimes committed by her captain. However, Marina thought of a better idea, as she had heard recently that a nearby Arena opening up soon was looking for its first round of competitors. "Prove to me you are just as good in battle as you are at robbing and pillaging trading ships! If you are as strong as your reputation claims, I will wipe your record clean. The day then will come when I arrive to meet you in battle, and if you fall by my hand, then your time will be up."
Within short order, Sunny would be registered and added to the Arena's roster as the third competitor to sign up. Due to her reputation however, she was given the name Sunny to battle under. Within battle Sunny has proven to be quite a force to be reckoned with. Utilizing ricochet cannonballs that deal greater damage the more they bounce. Sunny doesn't bother aiming her cannon in the direction of her opponent. Moving about the arena at a nimble pace for someone holding an entire cannon, relying on the ricochets to do the work for her.
When the time came to form teams for the then upcoming Grand Ball Cup tournament. Sunny would find a teammate in Manderly, forming the team War Powers, and over the course of the tournament, forming a friendship as Sunny found herself able to be social and friendly with others for the first time that she can remember. Finding joy in listening to Manderly's often light hearted stories about their time in construction. Once time came however for the Boss Gauntlet, Manderly would join back up with their former Construction Crew. Leaving Sunny to find her own team. First she would find the rather wild and reckless Lynx, who couldn't seem to stop twirling her two revolvers in either hand. The two agreed to be on a team given the similar nature of their bouncy ammunition, and firm belief in not aiming for your opponent. Then while looking for a third teammate, Sunny would find herself stopped, a hand placed upon her mouth from behind and a familiar voice whispering into her ear. "I have been enjoying what I've been seeing. Now I'm going to see more of your skills in person. Since I was the last one you could beat as the King of the Ring...Citrine." Sunny would turn around to see Admiral Marina before her, stating her intent to join Sunny's team. The three would then be ready for what would wait below in the Gauntlet as the team, Ranger Corps.
Sunny's cannon fires cannonballs that deal 14 damage per hit, gaining 2 damage per ricochet up to a maximum of 20.
Cannonballs fired by Sunny can bounce off walls up to 3 times before being destroyed, allowing shots fired in any direction to still find their mark. During Boss Battles, cannonballs ricochet indefinitely until they hit something.
