Morana is another one of the oldest competitors to enter the Arena, hailing from an era long ago. Rumor has it that when Morana was originally supposed to die, as nothing more than a lowly peasant under a tyrannical ruler, she simply decided to keep going anyway. No one is sure how exactly she survives, or what keeps her going. Some say it's pure spite, others say it's some magical ability. Regardless, few want anything to do with her given her constant aura of awfulness and putrid rot, aside from her closest friends Aima and Camilla.
She doesn't mind this much however, as she is as self serving as it gets from her struggle to hold herself together every waking moment. That was always something no one truly understood about her. That was until Aima came along. Part of the curse of Morana's existence is that everything she touches ends up rotting away. It's why she constantly withers away despite never fully decaying somehow. But when she met Aima, Morana found that she was uniquely impervious to the rotting touch of her hand. From that moment, Morana had never felt closer to someone, and they became quite fond of one another as they spent years and years within their domicile of dilapidation.
The undead duo would one day however be happened upon by a lone woman looking unlike anything the two had ever seen before. Adorned in what appeared to be royal looking clothing, and a large suitcase, both Morana and Aima wondered why this person hadn't screamed and ran in fear as most do upon looking at them. However, Camilla's sheltered lifestyle resulted in her not registering the two women she saw before her as threats. So she introduced herself, the somewhat newly crowned Countess of Counter County.
Morana seemed to be taken aback by this news. She knew she wasn't incredibly far from her former kingdom, where its tyrannical ruler would sentence her to her own death that wouldn't stick. After thinking for a moment, she realized the one that stood before her was the direct descendant of that very ruler, and it all came flooding back. Hundreds of years of bottling in her own suffering at the hands of the man who would be responsible for her "death" and now the very end of that exact bloodline stood before her. Camilla however would go on to explain her lack of sharing the same ideals as her family, and that the life of royalty was simply not for her. This rejection of her own power eased Morana's mind, and suddenly this person who showed up out of nowhere, who she would hate for a few minutes, after one explanation has now become someone she somehow felt a deep trust towards.
Camilla then informed the other two about the Arena, and that there they could utilize the living space and other accommodations at the cost of having to fight. Seeing no reason to disagree, the trio set off for the Arena. Upon their arrival, Aima decided to select Camilla as her duo partner in the Grand Ball Cup, where the pair would not advance to the playoffs. A little hurt, but understanding of the situation, Morana resolved to find her own partner, who would manifest in the form of a young man holding a jar of bubble soap. Despite her unsettling appearance, the bubble wielding Caesar agreed to join a team with Morana, and over the course of the Season, formed an unlikely friendship, as their teamwork paid off and earned them a spot in the Playoffs, where they would be eliminated by Lincoln and Shaw. Despite the loss, and some unresolved feelings about Aima choosing Camilla over her, the trio reunites for the Boss Gauntlet, under the team name, The Countess Companions.
Morana rots constantly, and yet, never truly withers away. Her rotting is so intense, that mere contact with other balls gives them a small amount of rot. Every time Morana hits an opponent, they are dealt 1 Damage on contact, but given +2 Damage to a Rot attack that happens every so often. If Morana hits an opponent three times for example, the next time the Rot attack occurs, the victim will be dealt 6 Damage. This effect stacks quite high, so opponents would be smart to dispatch her quickly. The excitement of spreading her Rot however causes a secondary ability to happen.
At certain moments, Morana will find herself slightly less able to hold herself together, causing a brief trail to follow her and form for a few seconds. Any ball that crosses this path will be dealt 9 Damage per second while in contact with the trail. Doing this comes at a cost however, doing 2 Damage to Morana herself per half second that the trail releases.
All Unarmed have a passive speed gain, that resets upon taking or making a hit.
