Silas. Though lesser known by the name of Death, is literally Death. At least, so he claims. He is registered under the name of Silas, as our background checking indicated that to be his legal name. However, no familial data seems to exist on anyone related to him. He has the biological makeup of a roughly thirty nine year old man, though he claims to be far older than that. Mental evaluations of Silas have indicated that he shows no abnormalities that would cause him to believe such things about himself. But he hasn't otherwise shown any signs of truly being Death.
He was part of the wave of competitors to join the Arena in its first official season. Silas arrived wielding a large scythe, and dressed in a large dark cloak and hood obscuring his face. It was also noted during his registration that he always spoke in a low whisper. Unlike most other melee based fighters, Silas uniquely can pierce his weapon through opponents, dealing multiple blows in one swing.
Throughout his time here, Silas has garnered quite a mixed reception. Despite his appearance and attempts to portray himself as Death, he wasn't the most skilled at actually using his scythe in active combat. Because of this he found himself often the one falling to others, as opposed to the other way around with him cutting victims down and being true to his supposed name. Some competitors find him to be hilarious, others think he may be insane, while some are somewhat fearful of him despite his losses. Either way, Silas grew tired of his shortcomings and sought to team up with Lincoln for the Season 3 Grand Ball Cup tournament to be the team "Death and Taxes". Lincoln at the time however was instead in the business of becoming teammates with Shaw. He would leave Silas and say just before parting. "Maybe another time…"
Silas would be left distraught as he wasn't sure who else would team up with someone of his abilities. During this time, Silas could feel the pressure was on, and that he needed to prove he could truly be worthy of being Death. For he worked too hard for far too long to get where he is now. So he pressed onward, and would continue his search for another teammate. Thuddeus would ultimately be the one who would step forward to do so. The pair went into the tournament with very similar records, and they would fight with everything they had and yet it still was not enough. On one of the final nights of the tournament, Thuddeus looked across the room in their team living quarters at Silas sleeping. He would approach him silently and remove the hood he kept on at all times. What Thuddeus saw would change him forever, as he went from a fairly optimistic person, to one filled with dread, fear, anxiety and self doubt. Thuddeus would flee the building, and would only return for the beginning of the next Season, after having joined the Grand Blue, seemingly feeling better.
Silas on the other hand would not be seen again either until his first appearance in the Season 4 exhibition circuit. Much to the shock of those watching, Silas would be seen wielding a second scythe. In addition to this second weapon, some were quick to point out that it appeared as though Silas' hood and cloak were now directly sewn into himself. It was discovered afterward that Silas gained his second scythe through investments from his opponent who he defeated at the time, Lincoln.
After the match, Silas would question why he was given such a weapon, especially from an opponent who was just defeated by it. Lincoln would explain that he felt guilty for his treatment of Silas earlier, and that now felt like "another time". He would then offer Silas a spot on his team for the Season 4 Boss Gauntlet. He would happily agree to Lincoln's offer. Though his expression remained a mystery to Lincoln beneath the hood. To this day only in that moment, Lincoln swears he could see two very faint green glowing dots where Silas' eyes would be beneath the hood.
The pair would seek their third teammate, and find one in the form of newcomer at the time, Aevum. Who first appeared to them as a younger woman of her mid twenties. Lincoln would look at her and extend a hand forward, asking if she would be willing to join their team for the upcoming Season. Silas watched as she was quite hesitant to do so, and even took notice of her gloves. Sensing something off about the hands they were hiding. He stood by silently anyway, standing and watching as the two talked to one another about the plan going forward as they made preparations to descend into the Boss Gauntlet.
Reaps through opponents to deal up to three piercing hits at 8 damage each. As of Season 4, Silas wields a second, smaller scythe alongside his primary one. During Boss Battles, the secondary scythe matches the size and damage of the primary.
Silas's scythes can uniquely cut through an opponent rather than bouncing off after making contact, allowing for instances of up to 3 multi-hits in a single pass. His scythes can no longer parry or be parried.
Silas's scythes can mainly only pierce while spinning counter-clockwise. Silas is always attempting to spin himself in that direction regardless of outside forces, constantly working to realign for the next strike, with each hit landed giving him a small boost to help him get spinning.
